Has your company listed its beneficial owners to the Finnish Trade Register?
Beneficial owners must be listed to the Finnish Trade Register at the latest on 1 July 2020. If the beneficial owners or their details change, the details must be updated in company’s internal list of the beneficial owners as well as with the Trade Register. Filing is free of charge and a company’s Board member or a Managing Director can file the notification online in Finnish or Swedish at ytj.fi.
Who is affected?
All private limited liability companies, general partnerships, limited partnerships, European economic interest grouping, co-operatives and foreign trusts
Who is not affected?
Listed companies, associations, foundations, housing companies, foreign traders’ branches in Finland
Who is a beneficial owner?
Beneficial owner is a natural person who owns a company or otherwise exercises control over the company. With regard to companies, beneficiary is a person who owns more than 25% of the company shares or votes. If such a holding or voting right is held by another company, one must identify the natural persons who exercise actual control over the owning company or organization.
No beneficial owners?
Kindly note that the notification must be filed even if the company has no beneficial owners or the company does not know them.
